Alabama Continues Tops In Both Polls
Alabama was number one in the pre-season polls and has continued number one throughout the season. Bama is attempting to go wire-to-wire for a third consecutive national championship.
For now, though, it was not one of those other two undefeated teams in the Crimson Tide's path. Alabama first must deal with Auburn, which is fourth in the AP rankings and fifth in the Coaches Poll this week.
Alabama will play at Auburn, which is 10-1, at 2:30 p.m. CST Saturday. CBS will televise the game. The winner will advance to the Southeastern Conference Championship Game against either Missouri or South Carolina on Dec. 7.
The Crimson Tide received 56 first place votes in both polls. Florida State is second in both rankings with four first place votes in the AP and six in the Coaches. Ohio State is the third undefeated team and ranked third in both polls.
The coaches put Clemson ahead of Auburn at fourth with Missouri sixth and Oklahoma State seventh. The AP had it Missouri fifth, Clemson sixth, Oklahoma State seventh.
The AP rounded out the top ten with 8. Stanford, 9. Baylor, 10. South Carolina. The Coaches had the same teams, but a different order – Baylor, South Carolina, Stanford.
Also ranked from the SEC are LSU, 15th in both polls, and Texas A&M, 19th in AP, 21st in Coaches. Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss are among those not ranked but receiving votes.
