Roundtree 'speechless' after Tide offer

Rashad Rountree is among the hottest juniors in Georgia, and he learned of another big offer on Wednesday as Alabama came through for him. The defensive back prospect reacts to the offer and much more inside.

As the senior class is two weeks to the day from putting pen to paper on national signing day, America's top juniors are experiencing college coaches at their schools as well.

Rashad Roundtree is among the hottest class of 2015 prospects in the South, and Alabama is the latest big-time program to pull the trigger on him.

"Yes sir, Alabama offered," he said on Wednesday. "I'm speechless.

"It's a great school and great program."

Alabama likes him as Scout.com does, as a safety prospect.

"They said I was very physical, great ball skills," Roudntree said.

The Evans (Ga.) Lakeside standout, who stands 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, hasn't yet been to Tuscaloosa. That should change in the next few months.

"I've never been ,but I plan on going in the spring," he said. "I don't know much (about the university), but I follow as much as I can about the coaches and players."

With offers now from Georgia, Florida, Michigan State, Clemson and many others in addition to the Crimson Tide, there is plenty to be said in Roundtree's recruitment.

"It definitely puts Alabama up there," he said. "They are all being considered."

Roundtree says he's "very far" away from narrowing things down at this stage, but will learn more upon visiting several schools on his growing list.

"I'm just extremely honored," he said.
