Shaw talks Tide offer

State champion running back and Hoover (Ala.) High workhorse Bradrick Shaw's first junior day of the year couldn't have gone much better. He had a great time with his teammates at Alabama and he went back home with an offer in-hand.

As steady as they come, Bradrick Shaw is all about consistency and familiarity. As the recruiting cycle begins to shift to the class of 2015, it was fitting that he and his Hoover (Ala.) teammates took in Alabama for junior day just three day's after senior Marlon Humphrey committed to the in-state program.

Shaw, Christian Bell and Darrell Williams each met with Nick Saban, simultaneously on this afternoon, each hearing some good news soon after.

"It was a great visit, then we met with Saban," he said. "They offered."

The 6-foot-1, 201-pound running back, who notched a pair of scores and nearly 200 total yards in the Class 6A state title game against Rashaan Evans and Auburn (Ala.) High in December, wasn't expecting the offer but was excited to receiver it.

"I feel great," Shaw said. "He (Saban) was telling me that he thinks I'm a great player and I have to keep working."

A cerebral athlete, the three-star kept his perspective despite the good news as he adds the Crimson Tide to his offer list along with Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Cincinnati.

"It doesn't change things," he said. "I've just got to take this offer and keep working as hard as I can."

In addition to the time with the head coach, Shaw was able to meet and speak to one of the program's newest coaches for the first time.

"It was great, the visit was very good," Shaw said. "Lane Kiffin pulled me over to the side and told me he liked my highlight tape.

"He was really nice. He seemed like a really cool guy."

Shaw does not have a current timetable to trim his list or make a commitment.
