Marion on Alabama radar

Kevin Marion is looking for a big senior season for back-to-back state champion Spanish Fort (Ala.), but his recruitment is already in full swing. He visited Alabama on Saturday and was praised by several coaches in the process.

Kevin Marion won a championship at Bryant-Denney Stadium less than two months ago, but he was back on the field on Saturday as a recruit of the Crimson Tide.

Alabama hosted the Spanish Fort (Ala.) High wide receiver during its initial junior day of the year.

"It went well!" he said. "I got a chance to talk to Lane Kiffin. He's still getting settled down right now (at Alabama) but he told me to keep him on my film and etcetera."

At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Marion draws attention wherever he goes, and Kiffin wasn't the only assistant coach making some time to talk to him.

"My favorite part was when I talked to Lance Thompson, my recruiting coach," he said. "He told me I was under evaluation and they are impressed wit my size.

"They like my height and weight, and the fact that I still have room to grow. They invited me back to A-day, too. He was pretty cool and he seemed very interested."

Marion reports between 80 and 100 prospects in Tuscaloosa for the event, but the staff made time for him to take everything in.

"We saw all of the facilities and met the coaches," he said. "This trip was about getting to meet with the coaches."

In addition to Alabama, where he's also taken several unofficial visits for games as a prospect, several programs are showing interest towards the two-time state champion wideout.

"I'm also getting interest from Mississippi State, Virginia, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri and Cincinnati," he said.

Marion is seeking his initial scholarship offer.
