Petitbon pops for Alabama

As Alabama prepares for its first big scrimmage of the spring football season, it got good news on the recruiting front for next year's class, as four-star Richie Petitbon verbally committed to the Crimson Tide.

This past two weekends was big for Alabama's commitment list, especially on the offensive line, with Lester Cotton and Dallas Warmack handling opponents at Nike camps over the last two weeks. Each is already rated four-stars and each earned an invite to The Opening this summer for their effort.

On Friday, more good news on the offensive line for the class of 2015 came in as Richie Petitbon committed to play for the Crimson Tide.

"Yes, I just did," he said shortly after the news broke.

The Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga College High School standout ranks as the No. 6 offensive guard prospect on as a four-star, becoming the third four-star offensive lineman on the current class of 2015 commitment list joining Cotton and Warmack.

Petitbon maintained Alabama as a favorite throughout the recruiting process, which included after a trip to Tuscaloosa in the fall for a game-day at Bryant-Denney Stadium.

"They really set the standard. I don't know what else you can do in a trip to a game," he said after the trip.

Petitbon was able to make the commitment to Nick Saban in his office on Friday, checking out Tuscaloosa for practice and before Saturday's scrimmage.

Below is some footage of Petitbon at the Under Armour All-America Combine in January. will have more from this developing story.
