Saturday was a momentus day for Alabama in adding several big-time commitments, pushing the 2015 class to the No. 1 spot in the Scout.com rankings, but several prospects already committed to play for Nick Saban's program were in town as well.
For Brown, a four-star from Columbus (Ga.) Carver High School, he was trying to aid the effort that the Crimson Tide coaching staff was in sealing the deal for new pledges on board.
"It was great, we had some unreal commitments," he said. "It was a great day, I love the University of Alabama. I had lots of fun and the class is getting stronger."
One prospect the defensive end spoke to before the big news broke just happened make contact with him for the first time on the recruiting trail.
"I actually talked to Leo Lewis before he committed," Brown said. "I asked him if he was loving it at Alabama and I told him to commit. He came and introduced himself to me, and when I saw that he committed, I was like, ‘I had to have something to do with him committing.'"
Before that point, Scout's No. 13 prospect at his position nationally spent time mingling with several others at Bryant-Denney Stadium from fans to fellow 2015 commitments.
"The fans are awesome as always, I mean nothing has changed," he said. "We (the commits) were just joking around and tripping, honestly, and just talking about the future."
It was the most time the current group of pledges has spent together to this point. 13 of the 15 current Crimson Tide verbals were in town for A-Day on Saturday. Only Richie Petitbon and Jonathan Ledbetter didn't make it to Tuscaloosa.
"I could say I bonded with Dallas more," Brown said. "We just talked about recruiting and everything. We'll most likely take some more trips together. After spring, I'm going to start visiting schools again."
Going forward, maintaining how solid he remains to the school he's been pledged to since his sophomore season, his focus is on spring football and getting stronger.
"My goals are to get over 300 (pounds) in power clean and 350 in bench," he said. "I power 280 and bench 315 right now."
