Tide Men's Tennis Has Players In NCAA

INDIANAPOLIS – The Alabama men's tennis team will, once again, be represented in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships as Daniil Proskura was selected as one of 64 in the singles field, while he and partner Becker O'Shaughnessey earned a 5-8 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship. With that 5-8 seed, the duo also earns All-America status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

O'Shaughnessey and Proskura have had two successful seasons together at Alabama, which started in 2013 and continued on into summer tournaments together. As the Crimson Tide's No. 1 duo, they have been ranked throughout the season and reached a high of No. 7 after defeating the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation in consecutive weeks. Together, O'Shaughnessey and Proskura have won 12 matches throughout the season, including five against ranked opponents.

Proskura, playing at the No. 1 singles position, is second on the team in singles victories and has won 11 matches at the top of the lineup. He has been ranked as high as No. 12 nationally and has defeated four ranked foes throughout the season. Recently, Proskura was awarded the Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award for the second-straight season and was also named a First Team All-SEC honoree.

Singles and doubles competition will take place May 21-26 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Ga.
