'This is a dream come true'

There's no lack of confidence with class of 2016 linebacker prospect Emanuel Bridges, but the timing of his latest big offer -- from Alabama -- still caught him by surprise Monday.

Emanuel Bridges informed Scout that he received some good news on Monday, even surprising news.

"I got an offer from 'Bama, the offer is official," he said. "It's very surprising, I knew it would come eventually, but not so soon."

Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is recruiting the Peach State standout, one who projects on the second-level at this time, he says.

"They like me at inside linebacker," Bridges said. "They like my size, he (Smart) said I have the perfect size to be a inside linebacker for the Tide."

The Newnan (Ga.) High product, who says he's up to 6-foot-2, 212 pounds as he closes out his sophomore high school campaign, is confident in his ability at his projected spot.

"I would say my ability to come down hill and play in the open makes me an SEC prospect," Bridges said.

Of the Crimson Tide, the earlier-than-expected extension was welcomed news.

"They're the best of the best, that's really all there is to know," he said laughing. "Definitely one of the best offers I have, next to Clemson and Ole Miss.

"This is a dream come True."

Bridges plans to take part in Alabama's camp on June 3, which will be his initial Tuscaloosa experience.

There is no timetable for a commitment from one of Georgia's top rising-juniors, though he is looking for a program that stands as "a place like home."
