It started as a routine phone call.
Class of 2016 Palmetto (Fla.) quarterback Jack Allison was beginning to make summer plans on Tuesday, looking to set up contact with programs about attending various summer camps in search of more scholarship offers, and Alabama was the next school on the list to get in contact with.
"Received an offer from the University of Alabama," he said. "I called Coach[Lane] Kiffin, just to talk about camp and he informed me."
"Yeah, I was surprised and pretty humbled, Alabama's a great program," he said. "They didn't really recruit me that much (before the offer), but he (Kiffin) said I will fit into the offense well.
"I'm shooting to visit for the camp in July; I don't have an exact date yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing the campus as a whole as well as interacting with the coaches."
Having never been to Alabama or to several schools recently to offer the 6-foot-5, 190-pound rising-junior, there is plenty of work to be done on his end with the recruiting process.
"I've been almost equally excited and humbled by all of them," Allison said of his offers. "My plan is just to evaluate every school evenly and to be open-minded to every option."
Not admitting to having a dream school despite a trio of in-state offers, one of the top 2016 passers in the South says he has no timetable for a decision.
