Trevor Releford Signs To Play In Poland

Former Alabama standout Trevor Releford has signed a professional contract with King Wilki Morskie Szczecin of the Polish Basketball League (TBL). Releford is slated to depart for his new team on Aug. 7, with training camp beginning on Aug. 9.

“It’s an exciting moment for me and my family and I can’t wait to be a part of the King Wilkie Morskie organization,” Trevor Releford said. “It means a lot knowing that I worked hard for this opportunity. I am looking forward to starting my professional career.”

“We are really excited for Trevor to have the opportunity to continue his basketball career at the professional level,” Alabama Coach Anthony Grant said. “We all wish him much happiness and success.”

Releford most recently played for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Summer League in July and averaged 6.8 points per game on 52 percent shooting from the field in five games, playing primarily as the team’s sixth man.

As a senior last season, Releford averaged 18.5 points, 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game - all of which led Alabama. He topped the SEC in steals and was fifth in scoring on his way to first team all-league and all-district honors. Moreover, his 574 points scored during the 2013-14 campaign ranked as the 13th-highest single-season total in program history.

Releford finished his four-year career at Alabama as the program's all-time leader in steals (263), steals per game average (1.9) and total games played (134) and ranks fourth in total points scored (1,873). Furthermore, the Kansas City, Mo., native ranks second in career starts (126), fifth in free-throw percentage (.814), and ninth in three-point attempts (446) and assists (395) in program lore.

Releford is one of only three players UA history to earn All-SEC honors in each of his four seasons (Jermareo Davidson, 2003-06 and Jerry Harper, 1953-56).

Releford will be teammates with former Saint Mary's (CA) star center Omar Samhan and Belmont’s J.J. Mann, who was named the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year.

Other players currently playing in the TBL include reigning league MVP J.P. Prince (Tennessee), Chevy Troutman (Pittsburgh), Deividas Dulkys (Florida State), Lacedarius Dunn (Baylor), and Adam Hrycaniuk (Cincinnati).
