Alabama Fills New York Football Airwaves

Former Crimson Tide stars Marty Lyons and Howard Cross talk football with 'Bama Magazine at the New York Jets vs. New York Giants preseason game.

The annual preseason scuffle between the New York Giants and New York Jets was held Friday evening at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Those fans tuning in via radio to the game known as the “Snoopy Bowl” heard commentary and analysis from two names familiar to Crimson Tide fans.

’BAMA Magazine/ interviewed the former Alabama defensive lineman and tight end prior to the exhibition matchup. Lyons, an 11-year NFL veteran, was part of the famous Jets “New York Sack Exchange” front four and a 2011 College Football Hall of Fame inductee.

Cross was a dominating blocker earning the prestigious Jacobs Trophy as a senior at Alabama. His 13-year career with the New York Giants was highlighted by two Super Bowl appearances (1990 and 2000 teams). Among the subject matters broached by Lyons and Cross during the conversation are the state of college football and advice to defensive lineman and tight end candidates seeking to succeed in the NFL.
