Nine Alabama Players Cited By Coaches

Nine Alabama players were recognized by the coaching staff for their outstanding performances following Saturday’s 42-21 win over Florida. Amari Cooper, Derrick Henry, Arie Kouandjio and Blake Sims were honorees on offense, while Landon Collins, Trey DePriest and Jarran Reed represented the defense. Reuben Foster and ArDarius Stewart made the special teams list.

For the first time in school history, Alabama featured a 400-yard passer (Sims), a 200-yard receiver (Cooper) and a 100-yard rusher (Henry). Cooper set the UA mark with his sixth-straight 100-yard receiving game as he hauled in 10 passes for 201 yards with three touchdowns. He set the record for career TD catches in the game and now stands alone in first place with 20. Sims threw for the second-most yards in a game at Alabama as he completed 23-of-33 passes for 445 yards with four touchdowns. He also ran for 39 yards on eight carries. Henry led all rushers with 111 yards on 20 attempts with one score. Kouandjio had the top grade on the offensive line and had no penalties, no sacks and no pressures.

The defense limited Florida to just 200 total yards (107 rush, 93 pass) and 2-of-13 on third down conversion attempts. Collins recorded five tackles with one tackle for loss. The junior added an interception and two pass break-ups. DePriest was second on the team with seven stops, including four solo. Alabama currently ranks first in the SEC and fifth nationally in total defense.

Foster participates on multiple special teams and finished the game with a pair of tackles. Stewart recorded a tackle on Alabama’s first kickoff of the game as a member of the kick coverage unit.
