Bobby Humphrey Tide’s 2014 SEC Legend

Bobby Humprhey, a two-time All-America and national offensive player of the year in 1987, will be recognized as an Alabama Football Legend at this year’s Southeastern Conference Championship Game in Atlanta.

Humphrey was selected as Alabama’s Offensive Player of the Decade in the 1980s by readers of ’BAMA Magazine.

Each year the SEC honors a former star from each conference team with a Legends Dinner the night before the championship game (this year on Dec. 5 at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta) and prior to the start of the game at the Georgia Dome on Dec. 6.

Humphrey rushed for more than 3,400 yards and scored 40 touchdowns in his career, 1985-88. He set the Alabama single season rushing record in 1986. He was 10th in Heisman Trophy voting in 1987.

He was chosen by Denver in the NFL draft and was a Pro Bowl participant in 1990.

His son, Marlon, is a freshman cornerback for the Crimson Tide.
