Robertson ready to make 2014 debut

Demetris Robertson is the only current Alabama football commitment yet to suit up in 2014, but that will change on Friday night. Tuesday, was ruled eligible to play following his controversial transfer from late this summer.

Friday night will be extra special for one Alabama commitment.

The only current Nick Saban pledge, in the class of 2015 and 2016 combined, not to take the field this fall will make his junior season debut.

Demetris Robertson, the four-star junior wide receiver projection by Scout.com, will suit up for Savannah (Ga.) Christian for the first time, as the 6-1 Raiders host Portal (Ga.) High School.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder was ruled ineligible by the GHSA prior the start of the 2014 season after he transferred from Savannah (Ga.) Country Day, and his initial appeal earlier this month was not successful. However, Tuesday's GHSA unanimous vote, after a hardship application was submitted, deemed Robertson ready to play immediately.

"I'm feeling good, ready to play," he told BamaMag.com. "I've been practicing the whole time, staying sharp."

One of the top athletes in the Peach State, Robertson committed to Alabama in mid-July, and he continues to be courted by plenty of programs -- including Georgia, Auburn and Florida State, where he visited this past weekend.
