Polls can be fickle especially those assembled by humans. Nick Saban and Alabama (9-1, 6-1, #5) had a perfect opportunity to impress the 12 members of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee on Saturday afternoon. They were hosting the number one team in the country at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Undefeated Mississippi State (9-1, 5-1, #1) and Heisman Trophy candidate, Bulldogs quarterback Dak Prescott, came to Tuscaloosa with the top offensive team in the SEC averaging 522.4 yards per game. The Crimson Tide successfully achieved their goal by defeating the visiting team from Starkville (MS) 25-20 before a national television audience (CBS) and a sold out capacity crowd of 101,821.
