Alabama Moves To Top In Legends Poll

It remains to be seen if there will be room in the top four for Alabama when the College Football Playoff Selection Committee reveals the result of its weekend of study, but former college head coaches who keep an eye on the sport have put the Crimson Tide number one.

Alabama received 11 of the 13 first place votes cast in the Legends Top 8 Poll this week after defeating the former number one, Mississippi State. Bama took a 25-20 victory over the Bulldogs last week, dropping Mississippi State to fourth.

Bama had been third a week ago in the Legends poll, but vaulted Florida State, which received the other two first place votes. Oregon is third.

The Legends Top 8 Poll is determined by the votes of 13 former college head football coaches.

Following the top four in the poll are TCU, Ohio State, Baylor, and Georgia, which made its first appearance in the poll after an impressive win over Auburn. Also receiving votes were Ole Miss and Michigan State.

Alabama received the first place votes of 11 of the 13 coaches – all but former FSU Coach Bobby Bowden and former BYU Coach LaVell Edwards. Both had Bama second.
