Cooper, Collins Head Tide All-SEC Picks

The Alabama football team had 13 players selected to the Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference team on Monday, while wide receiver Amari Cooper was named the AP SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban was also named one of eight finalist for the 2014 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award presented by the Football Writers Association of America in conjunction with the Sugar Bowl. Saban led the Crimson Tide to a 12-1 record in 2014, an SEC Championship and a berth in the first College Football Playoff.

Six Crimson Tide players garnered first team All-SEC honors, which led all teams. Cooper was a unanimous selection at wide receiver, while senior lineman Arie Kouandjio was Alabama’s other representative on the first-team offense. Sophomore defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, junior linebacker Reggie Ragland and junior safety Landon Collins (unanimous selection) were placed on the first-team defense. Freshman punter JK Scott was named as a first-team specialist.

On the second team, Alabama was represented by senior quarterback Blake Sims, senior offensive tackle Austin Shepherd and junior cornerback Cyrus Jones. Junior center Ryan Kelly, senior linebacker Trey DePriest, junior defensive lineman Jarran Reed and sophomore defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson were all named to honorable mention.
