Best Yet To Come From A’Shawn Robinson

A’Shawn Robinson was a five-star recruit coming out of Fort Worth Arlington Heights High School in Texas. He lived up to expectations as a consensus Freshman All-America in his first season as an Alabama defensive lineman.

Now A’Shawn Robinson is an established member of the nation’s number one college football team, the Alabama Crimson Tide that is 12-1 overall and was Southeastern Conference champion with a 7-1 league record. The 6-4, 320-pound sophomore will be one of the key players as Bama takes on fourth-ranked Ohio State (12-1 and champion of the Big 10 with an 8-0 conference record) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sugar Bowl.

Robinson was a valuable contributor last year and continues to be a playmaker for Alabama. Robinson also has demonstrated versatility, playing nose tackle, tackle, and end on the defensive front.

Even after a fine freshman year, Robinson aspired to more. And he has done that. After 13 games, he has 47 tackles (14 solo, 6.5 tackles for loss), 2 pass breakups, 4 quarterback hurries, 1 forced fumble, and 1 blocked kick. The sophomore earned All-SEC honorable mention.

’BAMA Magazine/ spoke to the defensive force at media day held Tuesday in the Louisiana Superdome. He gave a self-evaluation of his performance this season and breaks down the challenges presented by Ohio State.
