Alabama Gymnastics Up To Fifth In Nation

The Alabama gymnastics team moved up to No. 5 in the national rankings after posting a season-best score of 197.800 to beat Boise State last Friday. In addition to posting its best overall score of the season, Alabama posted its season-best uneven bars and balance beam scores, tallying a 49.475 and a 49.425, respectively.

Alabama heads to Athens, Ga. next to take on the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs Friday at 7 p.m. EST (6 central).

Oklahoma remains in the No. 1 spot this week followed by No. 2 Florida No. 3 LSU, and No. 4 Utah. Alabama took over the No. 5 spot this week followed by Michigan who fell to No. 6. Nebraska, Auburn, UCLA, and Oregon State round out the top 10.

Alabama is second on the floor exercise, fifth on the vault, sixth on the balance beam, and 10th on the uneven bars.

Junior Lauren Beers is ranked second in the all-around, sixth on the uneven bars, and 16th on the floor exercise. Freshman Mackenzie Brannan is ranked 10th on the floor exercise while junior Carley Sims is ranked 17th.

Sophomore Katie Bailey is 10th in the all-around while sophomore Aja Sims is ranked seventh on the balance beam and 17th on the uneven bars. Seniors Kaitlyn Clark and Kayla Williams are ranked 16th and 18th on the vault, respectively.
