Randolph Selected SEC Scholar-Athlete

Alabama’s Levi Randolph earned Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a second team All-SEC honoree by the men’s basketball coaches as announced Tuesday.

Levi Randolph sports a 3.45 undergraduate grade-point average and a 3.75 graduate level grade point average in Marketing. The senior from Madison became the first Academic All-American in Alabama men’s basketball history when he was named a second team selection earlier this month.

Randolph also leads the Crimson Tide men’s basketball team in scoring and was elected permanent team captain prior to the start of the season.

Alabama will begin play in the SEC Tournament in Nashville at noon CDT Thursday against Florida.

Kentucky’s John Calipari was named SEC Coach of the Year for the second time as he led the Wildcats to a perfect 31-0 record entering the SEC Tournament. Arkansas sophomore Bobby Portis was named SEC Player of the Year. Kentucky dominated the awards. The Wildcats’ Willie Cauley-Stein is Defensive Player of the Year, Karl Anthony Towns Freshman of the Year, and Devin Booker Sixth Man of the Year.
