Tide Gymnasts Good, But Sooners Better

The No. 5 Alabama gymnastics team fell to No. 1 Oklahoma by a score of 197.725-197.500 in front of 10,722 fans Friday night in Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama started off the night with a 49.450 team score on the vault, its second highest mark of the season, led by a 9.95 from junior Lauren Beers. On the uneven bars senior Kaitlyn Clark and sophomore Keely McNeer led the Tide to a 49.100 team score with a pair of 9.875s.

Alabama scored a season-best 49.525 on the balance beam led by a pair of 9.95s from senior Kayla Williams and junior Lauren Beers and a 9.925 from Clark. Alabama ended the night with 49.425 on the floor exercise led by junior Lauren Beers with a 9.95.

Alabama honored its senior class of Williams, Clark, Hunter Dennis and Lora Leigh Frost before and after the meet.

The Tide travels to Duluth, Ga., for the SEC Championships on Saturday, March 21.
