Alabama Men's Golf In Seventh Place

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The No. 23-ranked Alabama men’s golf team is in seventh overall through 36 holes of the 2015 Linger Longer Invitational. The Crimson Tide carded a team total of six-under par 570 (284-286) during Monday’s opening two rounds on the par-72, 7,063-yard Great Waters Golf Club at Reynolds Plantation.

Junior Tom Lovelady leads Alabama with a 5-under par 139 and is in a tie for 12th entering Sunday’s final round. Lovelady opened the day with a 3-under 69, followed by a 2-under 70 during the second round. It is the first time this spring the Mountain Brook, Ala., native has recorded back-to-back below par rounds.

Freshman Jonathan Hardee, playing in his first tournament this spring and third career event, had a strong performance on Monday. The Greer, S.C., native carded consecutive rounds of 1-under par 71 and is in a tie for 20th overall at 2-under 142.

Sophomore Robby Shelton, who entered the event ranked No. 4 in the nation according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index rankings, is in a tie for 26th at 1-under par 143 (70-73). Sophomore Dru Love is in a tie for 55th after carding a 2-over 146 (74-72), while freshman Steven Setterstrom rounds out the Tide in 61st overall with a 3-over 147 (74-73).

Tournament host and 28th-ranked Kennesaw State finished the day at 553 and holds a four-stroke lead over third-ranked Texas (557). North Carolina, ranked 19th in the nation, is in third at 559, while No. 17 Oklahoma (560) and No. 32 Georgia (560) are in a tie for fourth overall.

Sunday’s third and final round will be an 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start due to impending weather. Alabama will begin its day on holes No. 5-8 and will be paired with Clemson, Georgia and Mercer.
