Sophomore Dru Love led the way with an Alabama-leading 68 on Saturday after recording four birdies and one bogey on the round. He will enter Sunday’s final round in a tie for third overall with 3-under par 139 (71-68).
Love has been in a groove as of late, recording an eagle, five birdies and a bogey over his last 24 holes after beginning the tournament with four bogeys and just one birdie in his first 12 holes. He is just two strokes behind the individual leader Robin Sciot-Siegrest of Louisville (137).
Sophomore Robby Shelton (73-70) and junior Tom Lovelady (71-72) are tied for 10th overall after 36 holes at 1-over par 143 on the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course. Shelton carded a one-under par 70 on Saturday, while Lovelady continued his steady play carding a 72.
Freshman Jonathan Hardee is in a tie for 19th with a 3-over par 145 (72-73) to give the Tide four golfers among the top 20 individuals. Sophomore William Sellers rounds out Alabama in 58th overall with a 152 (76-76).
Tournament host and fourth-ranked Vanderbilt continues to lead the 14-team field with a one-under 567. The Commodores are three strokes up on the Tide and No. 11 Georgia Tech (570). Kennesaw State, ranked No. 28 nationally, is in fourth with a 578, while No. 49 Louisville and No. 44 East Tennessee State are in a tie for fifth overall with a 579.
Alabama will be in the final group alongside Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech for Sunday’s third and final round. The trio will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT off Hole No. 1.
