Alabama remains at No. 4 in the USA Today/NFCA poll for the second straight week, with the only change among the top five being Oregon jumping ahead of Florida to take the top spot. Michigan, Alabama and Oklahoma round out the top five. The Crimson Tide moved up one spot in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, jumping ahead of LSU after the Tigers fell in two games to Auburn last weekend. The Ducks also sit at the top of the USA Softball poll, followed by Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma.
The SEC has nine ranked teams, including four in the top 10: Florida (2/2), Alabama (4/5), Auburn (7/6), LSU (8/8), Tennessee (11/12), Missouri (13/13), Georgia (14/16), Texas A&M (22/25), and Kentucky (25/24).
Last week, Alabama wrapped up the 2015 regular season with a three-game sweep on the road against Arkansas. The Tide finished the regular season with a 41-11 record, marking the 16th straight season with at least 40 wins. Alabama also finished with 17-7 record in SEC play, winning seven of its eight conference series to place third in the SEC.
Up next, Alabama heads to Baton Rouge, La., for the 2015 SEC Softball Tournament, hosted by LSU. The Tide are the No. 3 seed, earning a first round bye before beginning play on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. CDT on the SEC Network. Alabama will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between Georgia and Ole Miss.
