In-state QB Free throws for Lane Kiffin

Alabama hosted several talented quarterbacks during its initial prospect camp of the season, with in-state standout Jacob Fee among the group.

In May, class of 2017 Brantley (Ala.) High School quarterback Jacob Free picked up his first offer, from in-state and semi-local program Troy.

He kicked off June with a workout elsewhere in the Yellowhammer State, in front of Nick Saban and company at the University of Alabama.

"I thought I did well," he said. "And it was great to be able to talk to coach Saban and coach (Lane) Kiffin today. They said that they were glad I could make it and they were excited to see me throw!"

The time with Kiffin was more of a teaching session.

"He just gave me tips and showed me things I could do to be better," Free said. "But overall, he acted like I threw well and I thought I did. My footwork was a little off but he said that I could fix that with practice.

"I was impressed with the coaching staff. They do a great job. Just blessed to have the opportunity."

Free, who added that Alabama had exclusive video of the workout, headed to Mississippi State after his work in Tuscaloosa.
