Alabama Leads Coaches Preseason All-SEC

Southeastern Conference coaches have selected a preseason All-SEC team and Alabama has 10 men on the three teams, including a conference best five first team selections.

Alabama players selected first team preseason All-SEC by the coaches are linebacker Reggie Ragland, cornerback Cyrus Jones, defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson, offensive tackle Cameron Robinson, and punter JK Scott.

The second-team selections were defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, running back Derrick Henry, and center Ryan Kelly. Tight end O.J. Howard and defensive back Eddie Jackson were on the third team.

The preseason honors from the league’s coaches are the second for Howard, A’Shawn Robinson, and Kelly during their careers at The Capstone. Howard and Robinson were first-team a season ago while Kelly was third-team.

All 14 SEC schools were represented by at least two of the All-SEC teams, including seven schools with six or more selections each. LSU matched Bama with 10 overall selections. Ten schools had at least one first team selection. Alabama returns 12 starters from a season ago when the team finished 12-2 and won the SEC championship and made it into the inaugural College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide has claimed three of the last six national championships and owns an 84-11 record in the last seven seasons under head coach Nick Saban.

Bama opens the season a week from Saturday, taking on Wisconsin on Sept. 5 in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
