Reggie Ragland, Alabama Defense Stuff Badgers

Reggie Ragland led the third-ranked Alabama defense in Saturday’s decisive 35-17 victory over 20th-ranked Wisconsin in Arlington, Texas. The Tide limited the vaunted Badgers running game to a mere 40 yards in 21 attempts.

Senior Reggie Ragland, a 6-2, 252 pound linebacker and Butkus Award semifinalist in 2014, shunned overtures from the NFL to return to Alabama for a fourth season. He recorded 12 tackles, five solo, topping the Bama defensive stats sheet on Saturday. The dozen stops was the fifth time Ragland recorded double-digit tackles in his career. Ragland was one of three game captains. Wisconsin running back, Corey Clement, suffering from a tweaked groin earlier in the week, was limited to 16 yards in eight carries. The last time the Badgers rushed for fewer than 50 yards was at home against Michigan State (19 rushing yards) on Oct. 27, 2012.

BamaMag.com was at the post-game press conference to record the preseason All-America and All-SEC linebacker’s comments after the opening game win over the Big Ten opponent.
