Alabama TE Reaching New Heights

Constantly mentioned in the preseason discussion of potential future stars on the Alabama roster was’s class of 2013 number one rated tight end, O.J. Howard. An All-American, All-SEC and Mackey Award candidate, the two-year totals did not match the talent level.

Alabama fans recall the glimpse of greatness the 6-6, 242 pound tight end displayed as a freshman versus LSU. He hauled in a crossing route and outraced the Tiger secondary for a stinging 52-yard touchdown. He entered the 2015 campaign with nine career starts in 27 games. O.J. Howard had caught 31 passes, 17 as a sophomore and 14 as a true freshman, for 529 yards and two touchdowns.

Through two games, he has hauled in seven passes. Tide quarterbacks are finding a more aggressive and sure-handed receiver in the Prattville (AL) native. Today, he had a single game career high of four for 68 yards with a long of 42. Howard spoke in the post-game press conference of a specific skill responsible for the production rise and other topics related to the Bama offense.
