2016 Alabama Schedule Is Announced

Alabama will open the 2016 season against Southern Cal at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas; will host Nick Saban’s alma mater, Kent State; and the Crimson Tide will again have its one open date the week before playing LSU, it was announced Thursday.

Alabama will have seven home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium and four Southeastern Conference road games as the SEC released next year’s schedule for all teams.

Arkansas, Texas A&M, and LSU will have open dates before playing Bama, but Tennessee – which had an open date before playing the Crimson Tide this season – will play Texas A&M the week before hosting Alabama.

The SEC Championship Game will be Dec. 3 in Atlanta.

Bama’s opening game against USC will be the Tide’s second consecutive game in the Cowboys’ stadium and third since 2012. Bama has defeated Michigan (2012) and Wisconsin in those openers.

In league play, the Tide will host Kentucky, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn while traveling to Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee and LSU next season.

The Crimson Tide also hosts three non-conference games at Bryant-Denny Stadium -- Western Kentucky (Sept. 10), Kent State (Sept. 24) and Chattanooga (Nov. 19).

The game with the Kent State marks Saban’s second meeting with his alma mater at Alabama. Saban graduated from Kent State University in 1973, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business. He began his coaching career there under Don James as a graduate assistant and earned a master’s degree in sports administration in 1975.

Alabama opens league play with at Ole Miss on Sept. 17, and then opens the SEC home slate on Oct. 1, against Kentucky, which begins a run of four straight games against SEC competition before an open date on Oct. 29. The Tide travels to LSU on Nov. 5, and then finishes with three straight home games Mississippi State (Nov. 12), Chattanooga (Nov. 19) and Auburn (Nov. 26).
