Jarran Reed & Tide Defense Rebuff Buccaneers

Alabama has the top defensive unit in the Southeastern Conference along with being one of the best in the entire nation. The tone is set by the big, versatile and dominating athletes of the defensive line. Jarran Reed is a vital cog of the unit responsible for shutting down the running attack and creating havoc for quarterbacks.

The Tar Heel native (Goldsboro, NC) is tied for third on the team with 48 tackles, 37 assisted. Jarran Reed occupies multiple defenders so active linebackers are free to roam and seek out the ball carriers. Only two members of the vaunted Alabama front seven have more tackles than the 6-4, 313 pound defensive line run stopper, linebackers Reggie Ragland (85) and Reuben Foster (52).

After l1 games, the highly regarded senior defender has 3.5 tackles for loss (-7), one sack (-3), two pass deflections, six quarterback hurries and recovered a single fumble. One of four game captains, he was credited with three assisted tackles on senior day and spoke with the media following the Tide’s decisive victory 56-6 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The FCS visitors from South Carolina managed 134 total yards of offense, 85 on the ground and 49 through the air.
