South's No. 1 OG Landon Dickerson leaning SEC, sets Alabama official visit

Landon Dickerson has been patient through the recruiting process, one far from over with a January 22 official visit set up to Alabama.

The top projected guard in the South on Scout, Hudson (N.C.) South Caldwell athlete Landon Dickerson did plenty in the trenches for the Spartans over his career. He played inside, out at tackle and was a force as a defensive lineman as well.

On Saturday, he played some guard and tackle at the 79th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, where he helped the Tar Heel State defeat South Carolina's best for the first time since 2011 (video clips below). Soon after, he refreshed his recruiting plan.

"I have an Alabama official set, it's January 22," he said.

Dickerson, who says no other official visits are set at this time, is making the Tuscaloosa trip for the very first time.

"I'm looking forward to seeing everything, really," he said. "They have a pretty decent engineering program. Hopefully I can learn more about it when I go down.

"They like me at either tackle spot."

The Crimson Tide is among an emerging group of programs the four-star says he's focusing on down the stretch. Florida State and Auburn, where he has already visited officially, remain in the running while Florida and Tennessee could be in the running for late trips.

An Under Armour All-America selection, Dickerson has no timetable for a decision.
