While he'll be associated with the 2017 Alabama Crimson Tide haul, Canton (N.C.) Pisgah fullback Michael Parrott is headed to play for UA much like a friend of his from the same area in the western part of the state, B.J. Emmons.
But the news of the junior accepting a preferred walk-on spot at UA consumed his phone to the point he hadn't relayed the message to the four-star running back signee.
"I'll tell him but my phone has been blowing up!" he said.
Parrott, who plays fullback, linebacker and defensive end for Pisgah, received the news early in the week and accepted on Monday evening.
"I'm on cloud 9, dreams really come true," he said. "I'm blessed to have been presented with this opportunity. I'm more than grateful to be one of the few who get to join such an elite program. It's such a blessing. Hard work really pays off.
"I'd also like to thank the coaching staff for the opportunity."
UA is expecting the newest commitment to enroll in January in order to compete in spring practice of 2017.
