Many kids growing up in the Yellowhammer State dream of playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide one day.
One more football prospect has that chance as of Friday, as Madison (Ala.) James Clemens standout linebacker Monty Rice visited Tuscaloosa and came away with some big news.
"I received an offer," he said. "It was awesome, (Nick) Saban did it himself. He said that they like me a lot."
Rice, who is among the hottest prospects in the state of Alabama in the 2017 cycle, admits he grew up pulling for the Crimson Tide and wanting "to play in the Iron Bowl."
Now he has offers from each in-state power, but don't expect a decision too soon. The second-team All-State selection wants to take his time and evaluate his options.
A return to Tuscaloosa is on deck for this summer, however.
"They like me at linebacker, they want me to come to camp to see where I can play best," Rice said. "The offer was kind of crazy. The visit was good.
"We looked at the dorms, watched the players workout, talked to Coach Saban and got some good food."
