No. 3 Alabama gymnastics has best score of season to defeat No. 10 Georgia

Alabama gymnastics celebrated senior night with senior Lauren Beers starring in win over Georgia

Senior Lauren Beers started her last regular-season home gymnastics meet on the vault with the first 10.0 of her career, pushing the Tide to a 49.400, which matches the Tide’s season-best mark. She then closed out her night with a huge 9.975 routine on the floor exercise, pacing Alabama to a 49.500 which also tied its season best.

The No. 3 ranked Alabama gymnastics team beat No. 10 Georgia, 197.550-195.700 in front of 12,427 fans on Senior and Alumni Night in Coleman Coliseum Friday. It was the Crimson Tide’s best score of the season on a night when several UA gymnasts posted career-best marks. 

 Sophomore Kiana Winston also had a huge night, scoring her second consecutive 9.975 on the uneven bars, leading Alabama to a 49.525 team score, and a career-best 9.975 on the floor exercise. Sophomore Nickie Guerrero got a 10 from one judge on the balance beam, earning a 9.95 overall, and leading the Tide to a 49.125 team score.

The Tide closes out its regular season next Friday in Baton Rouge, taking on LSU at 7:30 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
