Alabama has annual spring coaches clinic with big name lecturers

Alabama’s coaching clinic has the likes of Dungy, Beamer, Spurrier

Alabama Coach Nick Saban has made it a practice to have high profile coaches at his annual spring coaching clinic that is primarily for the benefit of high school coaches. In addition to Saban and his staff being available, the Crimson Tide brings in football experts from the college and professional ranks.

This year’s Alabama Clinic of Champions – which is open only to coaches – is April 7-9. The event historically has very high attendance of high school and junior college coaches from Alabama, throughout the Southeast, and even from across the nation.

Perhaps the biggest surprise guest speaker is former Florida and South Carolina Coach Steve Spurrier, who resigned from the Gamecocks during the season last year.

Other featured speakers are former Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy, former Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer, former NFL general manager Bill Polian, and current Philadelphia Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who coached the Tide’s line for two seasons (2011-12).

To register for the Clinic of Champions and pay by credit card, go to The cost is $60. Walk-up registration at the door begins at 5 p.m. on April 7 at Coleman Coliseum and can be paid with cash, school check, or money order (no personal checks). The Clinic of Champions is open to coaches only. All coaches attending are asked to bring their coach’s card for verification.
