"He committed to Alabama last night," said Hartselle Head Coach Bob Godsey. "He called me around 11:30 last night and said that he wanted to talk about some things," added Godsey with a laugh. "I think that's where he always wanted to go. He grew up an Alabama fan, and he got to know the new coaching staff. He likes that they run a pro-style of offense with Coach Shula coming in with some NFL experience. With some of the receivers graduating this year, I think he likes his opportunity to play there too."
Watching Stover on video, one can see a smooth, graceful receiver that is capable of making the difficult catches in traffic. He also has the ability to make adjustments in the air to out work an opponent for the ball. At just under 6-3 and 190 pounds, the only knock on him last year, was of no fault of his own. He didn't get the ball enough. Coach Godsey is new to Hartselle, and Stover looks to have a monster year.
"We're going to open up the offense a lot more to get him the ball. We're pretty much going to run our offense around him. We'll pitch it, throw it, toss it, kick it, whatever it takes to get him some touches," Godsey said laughing once again. "His work ethic this summer has been tremendous. He has not missed a single workout, and we're just really proud of him."
Alabama has gotten themselves a good one in Nikita Stover.
