5-star linebacker Vandarius Cowan flips from Florida State to Alabama

Though many Alabama recruiting fans saw it coming, Vandarius Cowan went through with his flip from Florida State to Alabama while in town Saturday.

The springtime typically yields big recruiting results for the Alabama Crimson Tide and 2017 is off to a similar start as of Saturday.

With many big-time prospects in town yet again, the biggest decided he wanted to be apart of Nick Saban and company's next class.

Five-star Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) linebacker VanDarius Cowan flipped his verbal commitment from Florida State to the defending national champions, he announced via Twitter.

"Alabama is the best place for linebackers, and they also want me for inside backer," Cowan told Scout's Corey Bender. "I love (defensive coordinator Jeremy) Pruitt and (defensive graduate assistant Brian) Niedermeyer as my position coaches."

Cowan arrived for a weekend visit on Friday and is expected to remain in Tuscaloosa until Sunday. He is the second linebacker in Alabama's 2017 class, joining four-star junior college standout Gary Johnson, who was the most recent pledge on the board overall.
