Alabama Coach Nick Saban makes a point of putting the first offense against the first defense (and therefore, second offense against second defense) for the annual A-Day Game.
Even though he has made it clear through the years that there is a not a depth chart in the Spring, and there won’t be a depth chart until the week of the season-opener (which is against USC in Dallas on Sept. 3), taking Saban at his word, these would be considered first team players based on the rosters for A-Day.
And just to provide the first caveat, All-America left tackle Cam Robinson and outstanding defensive end Jonathan Allen, are not participating in Spring drills, including the A-Day Game, as they recuperate from post-2015 shoulder surgery. Both almost certainly will be with the first units when the Tide takes on Southern Cal.
The first offense is in Crimson for the A-Day game and coached by Offensive Coordinator Lane Kiffin, Bo Davis, Brent Key, and Derrick Ansley.
The Crimson offense includes:
Wide receivers Robert Foster, Calvin Ridley, and ArDarius Stewart; quarterback Cooper Bateman; tailback Bo Scarbrough; center Ross Pierschbacher; tackles Koren Kirven and true freshman Jonah Williams; guards Lester Cotton and Brandon Kennedy; and tight ends O.J. Howard and Hale Hentges.
The first defense for the White is coached by Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, along with Burton Burns, Mario Cristobal, Billy Napier, and Tosh Lupoi.
The White defense includes:
