Alabama has one SEC series remaining before SEC Tournament begins

Alabama has won five of last six games in SEC, but against bad teams

Southeastern Conference baseball is down to its final week before the SEC Baseball Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in suburban Birmingham begins next week (May 24-29).

Alabama has had very good outings the past two weekends, but that has come against two of the worst teams in the SEC. Bama won two of three games against Auburn in Sewell-Thomas Stadium and followed that with a three-game sweep of Arkansas in Fayetteville last weekend.

The Crimson Tide of Coach Mitch Gaspard is assured of no worse than a .500 SEC record in regular season play as Bama is 15-12 with three games to go. Alabama will host South Carolina (17-9 in the SEC) in games Thursday, Friday (both at 7 p.m. CDT), and Saturday (2 p.m.)

Bama has a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday non-conference game against Samford in Tuscaloos.

The SEC Tournament will include 12 of the 14 league teams. The top teams in each division will have the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. The top four teams based on SEC record (and there are tie-breakers in place) will have first round byes with seeds 5-12 playing a single elimination game on Tuesday, May 24.

The eight remaining teams (first day winners and the four teams with byes) will play a double elimination tournament through games of Sunday, May 29.
