Alabama has no fewer than nine players who will get All-SEC vote

Media’s preseason All-SEC football team should include several from Alabama

Next week, sports reporters attending Southeastern Conference Media Days will be asked to select a preseason All-SEC football team.

Although Alabama lost a lot of players from last year’s SEC and national championship team, the 2016 squad has more than its share of outstanding talent.

There may be some revelation during the sessions in Hoover that causes a change of mind, but going into the four-day event it looks like no fewer than nine Alabama players will be on our selection of the preseason All-SEC team.

On offense, we expect to mark the preseason ballot with left tackle Cam Robinson, tight end O.J. Howard, and wide receiver Calvin Ridley.

On defense, our selections will include lineman Jonathan Allen, inside linebacker Reuben Foster, outside linebacker Tim Williams, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, and safety Eddie Jackson.

JK Scott will be our choice as preseason All-SEC punter.

We can’t select an Alabama player as the preseason All-SEC quarterback, because we don’t know who it’s going to be. Look for the herd to pick Chad Kelly of Ole Miss.

I’m sure our ballot will include LSU’s Leonard Fournette at running back, Ethan Pocic at center, and Kendell Beckwith at linebacker.  Auburn placekicker Daniel Carlson will make our list. Texas A&M has defensive end Myles Garrett and wide receiver Christian Kirk. Richie Brown of Mississippi State is a deserving linebacker. Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor is on there.
