Alabama lands south Florida star WR prospect Jerry Jeudy

Alabama continues its big summer on the recruiting trail with the addition of Scout100 WR prospect Jerry Jeudy.

Over the better part of a year it always seemed like a matter of when and not if.

Scout100 wide receiver prospect Jerry Jeudy announced the "when" this week and on Thursday night he did what many expected him to do, announcing a verbal commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Deerfield Beach (Fla.) standout, who impressed at several venues this month including just last week at Florida's Friday Night Lights (video below), pulled the trigger for the defending national champions over additional finalists Florida, Florida State, Miami and Tennessee.

"It's the coaching staff, I've got a very good relationship with the coaching staff, and the players, too," Jeudy told Scout earlier this month. "It's a good facility and they've made good wide receiver play-makers over the last two or three years."

One of the reasons Jeudy has long been linked to Alabama is because of his relationship with its 2015 freshman All-American, fellow wide receiver and south Florida product Calvin Ridley, who he has long been close to. The newest Crimson Tide pledge, who joins fellow blue chip Tyrell Shavers as wide receivers on UA's commitment list, has even told reporters he models his game after Ridley's.

Jeudy was last in Tuscaloosa during its final camp last week over several days in Tuscaloosa, spending time with Ridley as well as fellow Deerfield Beach product and Alabama freshman defensive back Aaron Robinson. He then visited Gainesville Friday and announced his intentions to end his recruitment late Tuesday evening.

The 6-foot-1, 177-pound prospect plans on graduating high school in December in order to enroll at Alabama in January.
