Head Coaches Avery Johnson and Kristy Curry Set Goal NCAA Tournament Berths

Alabama men’s and women’s basketball teams held the second annual Supe Store Tide Tipoff event at Coleman Coliseum on Friday evening. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a skills competition, dunk contest and three-point shootout.

Head coaches Avery Johnson and Kristy Curry were treated to separate impersonations from one of their players.  The Tide pep band, cheerleaders and dance team entertained the fans during the festivities.  Alabama alumnus and ESPN Gameday host Rece Davis even joined in the dance portion prior to asking questions of the players.  Voice of the Crimson Tide Chris Stewart and DJ Dirty Vegas directed all the action.  An autograph session at tables set up around the concourse with coaches and players preceded the main floor activities.

Celebrity judges for the dunk contest included former Tide/NBA players, Jim Farmer, Mo Williams and Gerald Wallace, Alabama women’s former player Nikki Hegstetter and CBS sideline reporter Allie LaForce.

Record producer and DJ, Metro Boomin, was the final act to amuse the crowd after all basketball related merriment was completed.

BamaMag.com and assembled media conducted interviews with head coaches Johnson and Curry, and Farmer, Wallace and Williams.  Wallace met with BamaMag.com for an exclusive one-on-one chat after the scheduled media session.
