Bama searches for wideouts

With no less than six senior receivers currently on scholarship, Alabama will desperately need to sign several talented wideouts in this year's class. <br><br><i></i>'s September recruiting forecasts continue.

Wide receivers, Expected to Sign: 4

Some things are worth waiting for, and the blisteringly fast Titus Ryan is set to graduate from junior college this year. He's committed to Alabama.

No position on the field will be depleted more than wide receiver at the end of the season. Zach Fletcher, Dre Fulgham, Lance Taylor, Brandon Greer, Triandos Luke and Antonio Carter are all senior contributors. And their production must be replaced.

There is a possibility that Carter could receive a sixth-year waiver from the NCAA for medical reasons, which would ease the blow. But as many as four precious scholarships will have be used to find game breakers at wideout. All phases of the passing game will need addressing in this hunt for talent.

Here are the players we believe are under consideration:

  • Greg Carr 6-5 200 4.55 Citra, FL - North Marion HS
  • Maurice Dupree 5-11 175 4.40 Centre, AL - Cherokee County HS
  • Demiko Goodman 6-4 185 4.40 Newnan, GA – Newnan HS
  • Bruce Gordon 5-11 195 4.50 Dodge City, KS - Dodge City C.C.
  • Patrick Gordon 6-5 205 4.62 Houma, LA - Vanderbilt Catholic HS
  • D.J. Hall 6-3 185 4.37 Ft Walton Bch, FL – Choctawhatchee HS
  • La'Donte Harris 6-0 180 4.50 Gadsden, AL – Litchfield HS
  • Chevis Jackson 6-1 180 4.50 Mobile, AL - St Pauls HS
  • Ezekiel Knight 6-3 210 4.60 Wedowee, AL - Randolph County HS
  • Reggie Lindsey 5-10 180 4.50 Summit, MS - Southwest C.C. HS
  • Will Oakley 6-1 190 4.45 Ponte Vedra, FL - Nease HS
  • Titus Ryan 6-2 200 4.31 Decatur, MS - East Central C.C.
  • Nikita Stover 6-1 188 4.45 Hartselle, AL – Hartselle HS
  • Patrick White 6-2 180 4.35 Daphne, AL – Daphne HS

Squinting hard to see through the thick September clouds, we fearlessly predict:

Chevis Jackson has an offer and has to figure in here or at defensive back.

Will Oakley has the height and athletic bloodlines to succeed.

Patrick Gordon impressed the coaches at both camps and may be offered now or perhaps as a gray shirt possibility.

La'Donte Harris is currently committed to Clemson but the Alabama staff does like his ability.

PLEASE NOTE: In these segments we will attempt to examine this year's Tide recruiting picture position-by-position. But please keep in mind that this is only an assessment of players that our research indicates are being pursued by Alabama or that we believe will enter the picture before next February's Signing Day.

This is not presented as a photo copy of anyone's recruiting board. There undoubtedly will be names left off our lists and athletes added later.
