Alabama baseball getting good production from front of batting order

Alabama hopes to be on bounce back mode Tuesday when the Crimson Tide hosts Jacksonville State in Sewell-Thomas Stadium at 6 p.m. CST Tuesday. Eli Gold and Lance Cormier will be on the telecast on SEC Network+.

Alabama is coming off a disappointing weekend in which the Crimson Tide was swept by Oral Roberts, falling to 3-4 on the season. The Gamecocks are 4-2.

Alabama will pitch true freshman left-hander Garret Rukes against Jacksonville State, his first start and second appearance for the Tide. Jax State will go with junior right-hander Colton Pate (0-1 with a 7.50 ERA).

Alabama has an 11-game winning streak over the Gamecocks, an overall record of 28-7, including a 24-4 mark in Tuscaloosa. The Tide lost three low-scoring games to Oral Roberts over the weekend after the Tide had been hot at the plate in a 12-5 midweek game against Southern Miss. Bama had 14 hits, including five doubles, against the Golden Eagles.

Alabama has been getting good offensive performance from the top of the lineup, led by Cobie Vance who has started the year with hits in all seven Bama games. Others hitting well for the Tide include Chandler Avant, Chandler Taylor, Cody Henry, and Keith Holcombe.
