Alabama’s men’s golf team had the best round of the day and Crimson Tide junior Lee Hodges had the best round of the day and the best tournament score in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Alabama moved from sixth to third on the final round Sunday as Hodges delivered his third sub-70 score and finished 10-under-par (69/68/69—206) and one shot in front of Michigan’s Reed Hrynewich. Hrynewich had been the leader by three strokes going to Sunday’s play over the 7,107-yard, par-72 Outlaw Course.
Alabama shot 6-under-par as a team on Sunday to finish 7-under and in third place. Bama had rounds of 285/290/282 and a total score of 857, six strokes behind host team Michigan and four behind second place Northwestern. Michigan was even par 288 in its final round, while Northwestern had the second best score to Bama’s at 3-under 853.
Junior Jonathan Hardee finished at -3 and tied for eighth with his 54-hole total of 213, all three rounds 1-under-par 71.
Tyler Hitchner was tied for 18th as he finished 1-over-par (72/72/73-217.
Tied at 38th was Dru Love at plus 7 (223) after a strong closing round of 69 following a 73 and 81 in the 36 holes played Saturday.
Steven Setterstrom was at plus 16 and 58th (76/79/77-232).
Josh Sedeno was not playing as part of the Tide team, but individually was tied for 29th at plus 4 (74?7472-220).
