Alabama baseball could get a break if the weatherman is correct about when the weekend rains arrive. If it’s dry in the afternoons and evenings as predicted, the Crimson Tide will get in a four-game series, Thursday-Sunday, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
The Crimson Tide and Golden Lions are set for a 6 p.m. CST first pitch at Sewell-Thomas Stadium today. Friday is slated for a 6 p.m. first pitch with the potential for a doubleheader on that day due to weather. In the event of a twinbill, Friday’s first game would begin at 2 p.m. with the second game still scheduled for a 6. The two teams would then meet on Saturday at the regularly scheduled time of 2 p.m. CT for the series finale.
If the weather holds off and there is no Friday doubleheader, the two teams will square off at 2 p.m. Saturday before finishing up the weekend series with a 1 p.m. CDT start in Sunday. (Daylight Savings Time kicks in at 2 a.m. Sunday, so don’t forget to reset your clocks an hour forward.)
Pitching matchups have not been announced other than Alabama going with left-handed freshman Garret Rukes in today’s opener.
Alabama is 6-5 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2-8 entering the series. Bama has an all-time record
The Tide is coming off a three-game sweep of Louisiana-Monroe. Pine Bluff opened the season with an eight-game losing streak, but is coming off two wins against Grambling.
