Alabama banged out 13 hits and drew a season-high 10 bases on balls as the Crimson Tide defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions, 14-1, Friday evening.
The win was Alabama’s fifth in a row and improved the Crimson Tide record to 8-5. The Tide and Arkansas-Pine Bluff will play the third game in a four-game series at 2 .m. CST Saturday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
The offense was led by three-hit efforts from Chandler Avant, who went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored, and Cobie Vance, who finished 3-for-4 with a double, a team-high tying three RBI and one run scored. Tanner DeVinny also contributed a three-RBI night, collecting his second home run in as many starts and finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk.
Jake Walters picked up his third win of the season with six solid innings. He gave up one run, five hits, and struck out five in improving his record to 3-1. Relievers Zac Rogers, Tyler McMurray, and Tyler Adams were the final three innings and allowed no runs. The appearances were the first for both McMurray and Adams.
