Alabama riding 17-game winning streak and is 3-0 in SEC softball

Alabama has SEC road trip this weekend at Mississippi State

Alabama is doing all it can to move up in the national softball rankings and the Crimson Tide’s 17-game winning streak, including a 3-0 start in Southeastern Conference play against nationally ranked Arkansas last weekend, got a little movement.
Alabama moved up one spot to No. 8 in the week five ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll. The Crimson Tide remains at No. 11 for the third-straight week in the USA Today/NFCA poll.
Last week, Alabama extended its current winning streak to 17 games, going 5-0 including a sweep over 24th-ranked Arkansas to begin SEC play. No new teams entered the top 10 this week in either poll, with Florida State remaining at No. 1 in the NFCA poll and in-state rival Florida claiming the top spot in the USA Softball poll.
Alabama is one of 10 SEC schools ranked in this week’s top 25. All 13 SEC teams are either ranked or receiving votes in at least one poll this week. Ranked SEC teams include Florida (2/1), Auburn (4/5), Texas A&M (7/7), Alabama (11/8), LSU (13/12), Tennessee (15/14), Georgia (16/16), Kentucky (17/18) and Ole Miss (22/24) and Arkansas (RV/25). Missouri, South Carolina and Mississippi State are each receiving votes outside the top 25.
This week, Alabama closes its 12-game home stand with two games on Wednesday. Both game times were moved up owing to predicted very cole weather in Tuscaloosa Wednesday night. Bama will play Winthrop at 1:30 p.m. CDT and Georgia Southern at 3:45.
Alabama gets back into SEC play with a three-game series at Mississippi State beginning Friday.
