After losing two of three games, Alabama softball remains in nation’s top 15

Alabama looks ahead to weekend series hosting Auburn

Even losing two games to Ole Miss this past weekend, the Alabama softball team dropped only one spot in each of the two national college polls.
Alabama heads into the final weekend of the regular season ranked No. 14 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
Bama will have an opportunity to improve its standing this weekend when the Crimson Tide hosts Auburn, ranked ninth in one poll, tenth in another, for three games beginning Friday at 7 p.m. CDT in Rhoads Stadium.  Saturday’s game will air live on ESPN at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s contest will be on ESPN2 at noon.
No new teams entered or fell from the top 10 in either poll this week, with Florida, Florida State, Arizona, Minnesota and Oregon holding the top five spots in each poll. Last week, the Crimson Tide defeated Samford on Tuesday before falling in two out of three games on the road against Ole Miss, ranked No. 21/21 this week. Alabama is now 39-13 overall and 11-9 in conference play. The Tide is ranked fifth in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama is also ranked No. 16 in the NCAA RPI.
Alabama is one of nine SEC schools ranked in this week’s top 25. All 13 SEC teams are either ranked or receiving votes in at least one poll this week. Ranked SEC teams include Florida (1/1), Texas A&M (8/6), Auburn (9/10), Tennessee (11/9), Alabama (14/15), Kentucky (16/18), LSU (18/19), Ole Miss (21/21) and Arkansas (24/RV). Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Missouri are each receiving votes outside the top 25.
