Preseason college football magazines have Alabama ranked high by positions

Alabama quarterback corps headed by Jalen Hurts considered best in SEC

There are a couple of preseason magazines that have been around for a while and which have a presence particularly in Southeastern Conference country.

Although we haven’t yet seen either Lindy’s or Athlon’s 2017 publications, we have been given a bit of information on Southeastern Conference position rankings by the magazines, and they are heavy on Alabama.

Here’s a look at how they see it.

First of all, Lindy’s SEC position rankings:

Quarterback – 1. Alabama (with Jalen Hurts returning as the SEC offensive player of the year and All-SEC quarterback from last year), 2. Mississippi State, 3. Arkansas.

Running backs – 1. Alabama, 2. Georgia, 3. Auburn

Receivers – 1. Florida, 2. Alabama, 3. Missouri.

Offensive line – 1. Alabama, 2. LSU, 3. Tennessee

Defensive line – 1. Alabama, 2. Georgia, 3. Florida

Linebackers – 1. Georgia, 2. Kentucky, 3. Alabama

Secondary – 1. Alabama, 2. Florida, 3. Georgia

And how Athlon ranked the position groups in the SEC:

Quarterback – 1. Alabama, 2. Auburn, 3. Arkansas

Running backs – 1. Alabama, 2. Georgia, 3. Auburn

Receivers – 1. Florida, 2. South Carolina, 3. Alabama

Offensive line – 1. Alabama, 2. Auburn, 3. LSU

Defensive line – 1. Alabama, 2. Georgia, 3. LSU

Linebackers – 1. Georgia, 2. Alabama, 3. Auburn

Secondary – 1. Alabama, 2. Georgia, 3. Florida
